To-MAY-toe

Or is it to-MAH-toe? No matter how you pronounce it, it’s the most favorite vegetable in the summer garden. But is it really a vegetable? Scientifically, it’s a fruit. Why? Botanist has categorized all that is formed from a flower, are fruits. This includes cucumbers, peppers, and squash.

So, why in the world do we think of them as vegetables. So, apparently cooks have overruled science and said tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, etc are not sweet enough to be fruits. We certainly don’t eat them as desserts. Except for in some Asian countries. They will slice the tomatoes 🍅 in wedges and sprinkle a little sugar or salt and eat them like dessert. I prefer the sugar but some say the salt brings out the sweetness. To-MAY-toe, to-MAH-toe ‼️

So, its time to plant tomatoes and put a ✔️ next to #3 on our 7-Workday Series. #HopeGrowsInCentury
