In the beginning, our small town of Century, Florida held several CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) meetings and out of these meetings’ brainstorms came the idea of a community garden. The idea was proposed by Mrs. Paula Byrd, who at the time was the director of the Pensacola State College Century Campus and not too long afterwards a group was formed.

We felt the community garden was the most doable project at the time and began our adventure. It was not the easiest. This was my first project as a volunteer. With a short summary of what happened in our first 2 years I will record my adventures as the only remaining active member this Spring of 2021.
