About

On February 16, 2016, the town of Century was devastated by a tornado. Forty-four housing units and important infrastructure were destroyed in a community that was already ranked the poorest in Escambia county, one of the poorest counties of Florida. Still, the members of the community decided that giving up was not an option. Instead, they are working together to make their small town better than it had been prior to the disaster. On November 10, 2018, members of the community came together to start growing the Hope Garden of Century. This garden is a symbol of hope for those who find themselves in the path of destruction–it may take years to rebuild, but it is possible to persevere.
