Sow To Grow Season 2 Episodes 6 and 7

All we did was work steadily away. We dug and transplanted and watered and weeded and 😓 sweated! It’s always a bit daunting when we try to get started in the 🌄 mornings. We’re like do you feel like digging, not really, but maybe we should a little! But once we get going we get a lot done in the 2 hours. Luckily, the weather is cool in the mornings still.

We haven’t made too much progress in digging and making new beds, yet. But we’re not rushing. We have filled our one raised-bed with zucchini, tomatoes 🍅, onions 🌰, marigolds 🌼 , peppers 🌶, and eventually cucumbers.

Our watermelon 🍉 plants look fresh and green but it seemed to have stopped growing! I did some research and it could be for 2 reasons. One, the weather is not hot enough….as I said before the weather’s been pretty cool in the mornings. Second, watermelons prefer sandy soil but I’ve only used compost so it could be too suffocating for watermelons. I’ve read that the roots of melons are very sensitive so I just kind of dug around the edges to loosen the soil up a little. I did this about a week ago and it seems promising but if it doesn’t start vining I will have to carefully dig the plants up and mix in some sandy soil with the compost. I hope we’ll have some fruit by the 4th of July!
